Palmpreblog.com (2) have made 2 posts indicating that Vodofone will the the exclusive carrier of the Palm Pre in the UK and EU.

In the original post they have a screen shot from the WebOS SDK (Software Development Kit) which features a line of code stating “UseVodaphoneVoicemail

In the 2nd post they claim to be almost 100% sure Vodafone will be carrying the Palm Pre in the UK. They spent several days harassing Vodafone about the Palm Pre they finally got through to someone who acknowledged the carriers plans to, well, carry the device. They received the following email:

Hi Ryan,

With regrets, I can not currently share any information regarding the Palm Pre handset; we are still in early negotiation with Palm, but nothing is solid. I can double check next week but as of this point in time that is all I know.

Also administrator on the Vodafone UK forum also hinted at the possibility of the device coming to the network:

Hey thatfenderstratguy,

That phone does look awesome, we were taking a look at this in the office the other day a few of us have our eye on it, I would keep your eyes peeled on the coming soon section here at our online shop.

Thanks

No surprise there really I don’t think Palm would want to be with O2 nor would O2 want to take the Palm Pre as it would be in direct competition with O2’s golden boy the iPhone.

T-Mobile have also spent a lot of money pushing the G2 and they are also one of the original members of the open handset alliance (Vodafone joined later) so it makes sense for them to stick with Android.

3 have the smallest number of customers out of the main networks so it would not make sense for Palm to give them an exclusive contract.

Granted Vodafone have the BlackBerry Storm, but it has been a bit of a flop certainly compared to the iPhone and they don’t have the investment in Android like T-Mobile does.
